Anticipation was in the air as thousands of people turned out in all weathers for Boxing Day meets all over the country. Anticipation of the hunt and anticipation for what 2010 may have to offer. Certainly those at the Old Surrey, Burstow and West Kent Hunt, which met at Chiddingstone Castle in Kent, were hoping that the Hunting Act will disappear as quickly as you can say never trust a politician. In all around 300 hunts braved icy and wet conditions with the largest crowds of the season coming to show their support for the countryside and hunting. The dedication of the supporters and the work of organisations such as the Countryside Alliance has ensured the pressure on Westminster has never relented.
