You couldn’t make it up. Darren Easton struggled to renew his certificates because Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s online form kept kicking him out, and he was stuck in hospital suffering with blood clots on his leg and dosed up on morphine. He tried to contact the firearms department for help but without success. Eventually police turned up unannounced and took his guns. More than a year later, Darren has moved to Scotland where he has been granted a certificate – but back in England he’s facing charges for illegal possession because he failed to submit his certificate renewals in time.
