It is time for part-time gamekeeper Kevin Copeland’s pheasants to go to wood. We have followed some of these birds since they were eggs; now they are going into the release pens. With the scorching hot summer of 2026, Kevin takes extra care to keep the poults calm and cool as they step out of their crates and explore their new home. If all goes well, the next time we see these birds they will be flying high.
