Former prime minister David Cameron and even David Blunkett were among representatives from the countryside who came to Westminster Hall in September 2026 to call for a reset between Andy Burnham’s government and the countryside. After two years of attacks on the countryside from Keir Starmer, they want Burnham to pull back from such an obvious vote loser.
