RSPCA impounds wild badger

When Morgan Myers decided to help a sick young badger he found close to his home, he had no idea it would lead to a police and RSPCA raid. Morgan fed and cared for the badger, which he named Brock, even building a shelter so it could come and go freely after it suffered serious injury from another badger. It looked like the ideal set-up for Brock’s rehabilitation. The authorities thought different. They raided Morgan’s home alleging cruelty or neglect.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “We were asked to assist with a police warrant and provide transport and housing for a badger which was in a shed. The badger was temporarily looked after at one of our specialist wildlife hospitals where they were assessed and, following consultation with leading badger experts, released back to the wild.”
