Richard Faulds sets the pace at the English Open Sporting

Shooting is under way at the English Open Sporting Championships at Barbury Shooting School in Wiltshire – and Richard Faulds set the pace from the start with an impressive 112 ex 120. Faulds was the first shooter in the first squad of the event.

The championship runs from today, Wednesday 19 May, until Sunday 23 May, and is shot over a 15-stand course of 120 targets. More than 1,100 competitors are booked to shoot the course over the five days. The top six shooters will go into a final on Sunday to decide the championship title. Classes and categories will be decided by scores shot during the course of the competition, with shoot-offs on Sunday afternoon if needed.

For the first time, scores are being posted live on the CPSA website as they come in, using the association’s new Shoot program. There’s also a live stats page showing lowest and highest scores, the overall average score, and breakdown by categories, county and more.

If you are travelling to the ground remember that a road closure means it’s best to leave the M4 at junction 15. The ground advise you to ignore any road closure signs in Chiseldon and continue to the ground as normal.
