Abbey Ling is shooting for a place at the Tokyo Olympics

Top British trap shooter Abbey Ling is making one final push to win a place competing for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

She’s heading out to Italy to shoot the ISSF World Cup at the beginning of May, then to Croatia for the European Championships at the end of the month, where there’s an Olympic quota place up for grabs.

“You’re going to have to win it to win that last place, but there is that opportunity in ladies to go to the Olympics alongside Kirsty Barr,” says the 34-year-old from Wellington in Somerset.

She’s looking forward to travelling abroad to compete again. “I’ve been locked up for too long. I need to go somewhere nice,” she says.

“A lot of people at the moment are just keeping fingers crossed that it all goes ahead. Hopefully I can join them, but if I can’t I’ll be wishing Kirsty, Aaron and Matt all the best of luck.”
