Breda 930i semi auto competition shotgun – review

One glance at the Breda 930i will tell you it’s a top of the range semi-automatic shotgun made for competition clay shooting. Its distinctive looks set it apart from other guns on the market, with its stylish Italian lines, polished receiver and blue or red anodised parts including the trigger guard, bolt handle and fore-end retaining cap.

The sleek design and anodised coloured parts give the gun a distinctive look

The Breda 930i has more than just good looks though. Andy Norris from UK distributors Viking Arms says “There’s a lot of design effort gone into this gun to make sure it works well. So long as you use decent cartridges, which you would in a competition, you’ll get thousands of rounds of pure, reliable target shooting. Plus it’s inertia operated so there’s no gas parts that need cleaning.”

Andy Norris says this is an out-and-out competition clay gun

He goes on to list some of the gun’s features: “It’s got a 3 inch chamber, Maxi 90 chokes, and it’s Superior Steel proofed. The stock is adjustable, in grade 4 wood, and has a non-slip recoil pad.”

“Basically this is what made Breda what it is today – this is what they built their reputation on. I’d say this is one of the best, if not the best, competition semi autos available to the UK shooter. At £1,700 for a competition gun like this, with this pedigree – well, that’s pretty incredible!”
