Rizzini Venus Sporting ladies’ competition shotgun

The Rizzini Venus Sporting is a gun designed specifically for the female shooter. All too often ladies start shooting with a borrowed gun that was made for a male shooter. It probably doesn’t fit them properly, so it’s uncomfortable and hinders their shooting.

“There’s no reason why a lady shot shouldn’t have equipment designed with her in mind,” says Edward King from Rizzini importers ASI. “A lady tends to have a longer neck, and needs a higher comb. But if you just make the comb higher the bottom of the stock doesn’t sit properly in the cup of the shoulder.”

“The stock needs to be more of a Monte Carlo shape, with a high comb but the butt sole sitting low enough to be comfortable to shoot. Also for a lady shot the toe of the stock isn’t so pronounced for obvious physical reasons.”

The standard stock length for a man’s sporting gun is about 14 7/8 ins to 15 ins, while the Venus Sporting has a pull length of just under 14 1/2 ins, again ideal for the typical female shooter.

The Venus Sporting is a great looking gun too, with nice wood and engraving that’s not overtly ‘girly’ but slightly finer and more delicate than the standard models.

“All in all this is very much a gun for the female shot, priced at £3,580,” says Edward.
