Suhl Junior World Cup cancelled

The German shooting federation has cancelled the planned 2021 Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. The event, planned for 3-14 July, is the latest to fall victim to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The disappointment was clear, the father of one British hopeful posting on social media “Another one bites the dust.”

The German federation say they looked into the possibility of rescheduling the competition, but that wasn’t possible “considering the possible time frames, the availability of key facilities and resources as well as the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the Junior World Championship later this year – we moreover had to decide that a postponement later in 2021 is also not manageable.”

Several young British shooters had hoped to attend the Junior World Cup, and British Shooting had invited athletes to apply back in early April. They had planned to take up to six junior ladies and six junior men in each discipline, Olympic Trap and Olympic Skeet, along with coaches and support staff.
