What a great claybusting Bank Holiday!

You know Summer has arrived when clay shooters are out enjoying the sport in glorious sunshine – and what a fabulous Spring Bank Holiday of shooting we’ve just had!

Orston Shooting Ground staged an excellent Clay Shooting Classic over three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event had a great atmosphere, with a busy trade village. Nick Hendrick shot 143 ex 150 to take the top spot in the Sporting competition, collecting a Blaser F16 Sporter as well as the coveted trophy – that’s him on top of the podium in the photo above.

Martin Myers was runner-up, with Sam Green 3rd overall. Cheryl Hall won ladies, Steve Brightwell veterans, Will Fenner juniors and B Eastman colts. Sportrap high gun was won by J Lee with 96 ex 100. Results at the Orston SG website.

Browning shooter Sam Green went on to win a Browning B725 at the Cheddite Championships at Barrow Sporting Clays on Monday, beating J Pearce in a shoot-off for the high gun. Richard Faulds beat Philip Thorrold to take the top spot in AA class. Results on Barrow SC’s Facebook page.

Over at Nuthampstead it was the CPSA English Open ABT Championship, where Adam Gutteridge tied with Kevin Borley and Theo Ling on 195 ex 200. After a sudden death shoot-off Adam Gutteridge took the win and was crowned this year’s champion. Results on the CPSA website.
