Faulds still leads after day 2 of English Open Sporting

Richard Faulds’ score of 112 ex 120 still leads the field at the English Open Sporting Championship, under way at Barbury Shooting School in Wiltshire. Faulds made his score on Wednesday 19 May, shooting in the first squad of the competition.

Day 2 of the event brought challenging conditions, with a stiff wind and plenty of rain and drizzle. Nevertheless some good scores were posted, although nothing to knock Faulds off the top spot. James Attwood shot 105 ex 120, only to be pipped by Jake Moore with 106, making them the top scorers of the day.

The competition runs until Sunday 23 May, when the top six will go into a final to decide the championship title.

The current top five are:

  • Richard Faulds 112
  • Julian Freeman 110
  • Mickey Rouse 106
  • Jake Moore 106
  • James Attwood 105

Level on 103 in sixth place are:

  • George Digweed
  • Paul Cooper
  • Peter Goldsmith
  • Jonathan Kendall

Classes and categories will be decided by scores shot during the course of the competition, with shoot-offs on Sunday afternoon if needed.

For the first time, scores are being posted live on the CPSA website as they come in, using the association’s new Shoot program. There’s also a live stats page showing lowest and highest scores, the overall average score, and breakdown by categories, county and more.

If you are travelling to the ground remember that a road closure means it’s best to leave the M4 at junction 15. The ground advise you to ignore any road closure signs in Chiseldon and continue to the ground as normal.
