Nottinghamshire physiotherapist and smallholder Sandy wanted a shotgun to protect her livestock from predators. She did everything right, applying for a certificate and getting professional coaching. In due course her certificate was granted – but that’s when everything started to go wrong. Police revoked her certificate, made a complaint to her professional body, returned her certificate with impractical storage conditions attached, then revoked it again. Meanwhile foxes have killed all her chickens, and she is still waiting for her certificate.
