FAQs

• Are Air Rifles covered under this policy?

  Yes, all claims relating to shooting, regardless of the weapon, are covered but please note if the weapon is illegally held then the policy will not respond.

  The legal expenses insurance policy will cover professional expenses in relation to an appeal or representation to a police licensing authority, court of other mandatory body following the refusal to grant a certificate or to renew a certificate for an air gun, where such certificate is a requirement – for example in Scotland.

• Are vets fees covered?

  The policy covers any third-party damage or injury caused directly by the activities of the Insured. i.e. if a dog is accidentally injured during a shoot and the organiser/participant of the shoot is found liable for that injury (negligence, for example) then the veterinary bills associated will be covered under the policy.

  Please note that this policy is not a pet policy but a policy to insure the liability to third parties caused by the individual Insured or, where applicable, their dogs.

   

• Do I need to live in the UK to be covered by the insurance?

  Yes you must be a UK resident in order to be eligible for the insurance(s).

• What is Public Liability insurance and what activities are covered?

  Public Liability insures the financial cost resulting from property damage or bodily injury to a third party as a direct result of the action of a Fieldsports Channel member whilst undertaking the activities listed below within the UK:

  1. Driven shooting
  2. Walked up shooting
  3. Rough shooting including associated beating and picking up activities
  4. Wildfowling
  5. Clay pigeon shooting
  6. Target shooting
  7. Stalking
  8. Deer stalking
  9. Vermin and pest control (excluding poisons)
  10. Fishing and angling
  11. Tracking wounded deer with dogs
  12. Controlled deer culling operated in accordance with current UK legislation
  13. Field trials
  14. Beating, loading and picking up
  15. Dog training

  Please note this is not a personal accident policy.

• What is the difference between the Fieldsports Channel membership with shooting insurance and other organisations insurance packages?

  Fieldsports Channel membership offers Legal Expenses cover. It also includes access to the Fieldsports Advice Bureau and Layla our tame Lawyer.

• Can I obtain a membership card?

  Yes, you can order a membership card here https://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/product/fieldsports-membership-with-insurance-card/ the card includes your photograph and a QR card which links to all of your insurance documents.

• The police are taking a long time to grant/renew/vary my certificate but they have not contacted me to say why. Am I still eligible for Fieldsports legal cover? 

  The legal cover only applies to renewals and variations, not to the original grant of a shotgun or firearms certificate. However, as a Fieldsports Member you would receive support from the Fieldsports Advice Bureau, Layla the lawyer is available to advise you on how best to expedite the process.

• Will the legal expenses cover the costs of a revocation of a member’s certificate?

  Yes. The policy will cover your legal costs for an appeal following the suspending, revoking, curtailing, altering the terms of or refusing to renew your firearm or shotgun certificate; and the failure to grant a variation to your firearm or shotgun certificate. It will also cover the costs of your defence if subject to a criminal investigation relating to certain firearms offences.

  Please note this policy does not apply to the original grant of a shotgun or firearms certificate.

• How do I make a public liability claim?

  In the first instance, all public liability claims should be referred to the broker Geoff Barker at PiB email geoff.barker@pib-insurance.com

• How do I make a Legal expenses claim?

  We would also advise any potential claimant to contact Layla at the Fieldsports Advice Bureau first. You will need to provide your unique subscription number and policy number – Layla’s contact details are available in the Members Area of the website.

• Are groups or clubs insured?

  Yes, subject to the group, club or syndicate’s name and its members being registered with Fieldsports Channel then insurance for those individuals within the group, club or syndicate are insured. Each member enjoys a separate limit of £5,000,000 and the claim made under one syndicate member’s policy will not affect an unrelated circumstance of another syndicate member. • Can I add the insurance package to my existing Fieldsports membership?

  If you are already a Fieldsports member, paying £60 per year or £5.99 per month, then yes you can add the insurance package to your membership.

  Please follow the instructions below on how to upgrade. You’ll need to log into the members are of the website. If you get stuck please email membership@fieldsportschannel.tv

  • Go to Members Area, My Account https://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/my-account/
  • Go to Subscriptions
  • Under Subscription totals you will see a button to Upgrade.
  • Click Upgrade and that will take you to a new page showing the option to upgrade to the insurance product.

  • Click Upgrade and this will take you through to the basket and checkout process

  Your upgrade will be charged pro rata depending on when your existing membership package is due for renewal. You will only be charged the upgrade fee and then £90 on your first full renewal.

  Please note the option to upgrade is only available to Fieldsports members on YouTube, Patreon or Facebook. If you signed up via those platforms you will need to sign up as a new member with insurance.

• Does the policy cover shoot cancellation?

  Shoot cancellation is not covered under this policy. In addition, the policy will not cover any disease outbreak such as avian flu.

• Is personal accident covered under the policy?

  Personal accident is not covered under this policy. The policy provides public liability insurance to cover the financial cost resulting from property damage or bodily injury to a third party as a direct result of the action of a Fieldsports Channel member whilst undertaking the activities listed below within the UK:

• What are the membership terms and conditions?

  These Terms and Conditions are valid for Members joining or renewing on or after 26th March 2024. Please read these Terms and conditions carefully and keep them in a safe place as any use of your Membership is subject to these Terms and Conditions. The Terms & Conditions of our insurance cover are set out in separate insurance documents here

  When you sign up to Fieldsports Membership online, you will become a member as soon as you can see the order confirmation screen, assuming all the details you have given us are correct and we are able to take payment from your card or bank account. Please make sure that you print this page for your records, you will also receive an email confirmation of your order.

  We reserve the right not to accept or process your membership request for any reason. All orders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by your bank, credit or debit card issuer.

  Compliments and Complaints

  If you wish to register a compliment or a complaint about your Fieldsports Membership, you can do so by email. We welcome your feedback as it provides us with the opportunity to improve our services to you. Please email membership@fieldsportschannel.tv

  Membership activation and validation

  Your membership and insurance are only active if we have received valid payment details from you and the personal details you provide us, including your full name, postal address and date of birth, are correct. Please ensure you keep us notified of any changes to any of your contact details.

  Where you give us information on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you have provided them with the information set out in these terms and conditions and that they have not objected to such use of their personal information.

  Member Benefits

  Your Fieldsports membership will provide you with a variety of member benefits. You can keep up to date with the benefits currently on offer by checking our website regularly.

  We reserve the right to change or withdraw these member benefits at any time. Member benefits may be subject to an external provider’s terms and conditions, we do not accept liability for any loss or damage suffered as a result of any faults, errors or omission in the provision of these goods or services.

  Cancellation of Membership

  You may cancel your membership by email to membership@fieldsportschannel.tv. If you wish to cancel your membership within 14 days of the date of purchase of your membership, provided you have not taken advantage of any member benefits or claimed on the insurance included with your membership, you will receive a full refund of the membership premium.

  If you wish to cancel after 14 days of the date of purchase of your membership, cancellation will take effect at the next payment date. Please note that your insurance will be cancelled at the same time as your membership.

  Fieldsports Television Ltd may cancel your Fieldsports Membership if your Membership premium or other related charge is overdue; or at any time by giving at least 45 days notice: cancellation will take effect at the next payment date following the end of this notice period and no refund of premium will be due to the Member.

  Auto Renewal

  Your Fieldsports Membership will automatically renew each year. Any changes to these Terms and Conditions will take effect at renewal.

  If you do not wish to renew on this basis, you should notify the Membership Department via email at least 7 days prior to renewal. Email membership@fieldsportschannel.tv

  Changes to Terms and Conditions

  Fieldsports Television Ltd is entitled to change these Terms and Conditions at any time provided we have given you reasonable notice of these changes. Changes will take effect at the next payment date unless you are notified otherwise. Please contact the Membership Team email membership@fieldsportchannel.tv

  Changes to your Personal Details

  Please ensure that you notify us of any changes to your name, address or email address immediately. Please also ensure that your card or bank details are correct and up to date to avoid failed payments and the loss of your membership insurance cover. If your annual renewal payment fails, your membership and your insurance will no longer be active.

  Use of your Personal Information

  Fieldsports Television Ltd recognises that your privacy is important and is committed to protecting it. We will always use every reasonable effort to ensure sufficient protections are in place to safeguard your personal information.

  By becoming a member of the Fieldsports Nation and providing us with your personal information you agree to the storage and use of your personal information by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  We may also use this information to notify you about our services, programmes and events which we believe may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive such information from us, please let us know.

  We may monitor and record communications with you (including phone conversations and emails) for quality assurance and compliance reasons. We may also check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If you provide false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, this will be recorded.

  As required by law or other regulation, we will not pass, disclose, rent or sell your personal information to any third party without your prior consent.

  We have a Data Protection Policy and strict internal procedures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, improper use, alteration, unintended destruction or other loss. You have the right, by written request to a copy of any personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) which we hold about you.

  Enforcement of Terms and Conditions

  Failure to enforce or non-reliance on any of these Terms and Conditions by Fieldsports Television Ltd will not prevent Fieldsports Television Ltd from subsequently relying on or enforcing them.

• Do I receive a personalised insurance certificate?

  As a Fieldsports member you are covered under our insurance policy. When you sign up you won’t receive a personalised insurance certificate, you will receive a Policy Schedule in the name of ‘Fieldsports Television Ltd and Members’

  This Policy Schedule, along with your membership order confirmation can be used as proof of insurance. You can also purchase a membership card here

  The date of the schedule runs from 23rd Feb 2005, our policy is auto renewed on a rolling basis each year so you receive continuous cover, providing you have an active/current Fieldsports Membership. Your cover starts from the moment you sign up as a member with insurance and is set to auto renew each year, unless you select otherwise at the time of sign up.
