Who is currently the best Sporting clay shot in England? We’re about to find out at the English Open Sporting Championship, this year held at John Bidwell’s High Lodge Shooting Ground near the Suffolk coast. Last year’s event, at Doveridge, provided a last-minute drama as Mark Winser swept in right at the end of the final day, to beat James Bradley-Day’s score of 117, which had held the lead all through the week. This year’s championship is shaping up to provide a similar level of drama. On day 1 Phil Gray posted a phenomenal 118 out of 120. Can any of the top shots match that on the tricky championship course?
