Fieldsports Britain – Bird Flu and the Gameshooting Season

“There was no argument about it. It was just done.” So says the pheasant hatchery owner who has just lost 60,000 birds. With bird flu creeping across the UK and game farms wiped out by government culls, what is the future for the gameshooting season this year. We talk to Graham Holden at Hy-Fly Game Hatcheries in Lancashire, as well as shoot operator Paul Childerley about prospects for the season. Plus we go to a bespoke knifemaker to see how they make Damascus blades and give them mammoth ivory handles. We are at the Emberleaf knife factory. And along with the News stump and Hunting YouTube, Paul is back to top off the show with a demonstration of ‘speed gralloching’. Can you do it faster? Just don’t lose any fingers as a result of this week’s #FieldsportsBritain
