The world’s biggest grouse, capercaillie, were abundant in Scotland within living memory. Since then, a combination of hopeless management by the RSPB and a change in climate has wiped them out. Niall Rowantree goes to Swedish Lapland where they are doing well – so well that the locals hunt and eat them. He finds out how the Swedes conserve them, and works out what hope they have in Scotland. He is shooting capercaillie over Finnish spitz with a Blaser D99 drilling in 7×57.
That’s not all. South African filmmaker Phil Hattingh contributes an item about how the antis are trying to destroy conservation in Namibia in the name of animal rights Plus we are giving away an Athlon scope priced at £560, thanks to Rifleman Firearms. David is on the news stump with news of how shooters marked the life of HM The Queen at her funeral, and James Marchington has the best hunting videos on YouTube in Hunting YouTube. It’s another great #FieldsportsBritain
