Härkila’s new range of shooting and stalking boots

If you think you know Härkila boots, think again. In 2021 they’ve come out with a brand new range that’s even better than before.

“We’ve been making boots for seven or eight years now, and we’ve learned a lot in that time,” says Härkila’s Simon Esnouf. “The new boots are made in Europe, so delivery times are much shorter than before, and we’re working with a very good company to develop some really super products.”

All the new boots have a Gore-Tex membrane to ensure they are breathable and totally waterproof. Every single Gore-Tex boot liner is tested by dipping in water to ensure there are no leaks.

The Härkila Pro Hunter Ledge GTX is a lightweight and comfortable 8 inch boot

Simon highlights the Pro Hunter Ledge GTX, a new 8 inch boot that he says is very different from the old Pro Hunter. “It’s very lightweight, about a third less than its predecessor. There’s also a nice gaiter ring, so you’ve got something to hook your gaiters onto without damaging the laces.”

Next up is the Pro Hunter Ridge GTX, a 10 inch boot with a Vibram sole. Again this boot is much lighter than its predecessor. “This one would be ideal if like me you’re a pheasant shooter looking to replace wellingtons with something more comfortable,” says Simon. “Like the Ledge, the sole has a bit of flex – it’s a stalking boot after all, not a mountain climbing boot.”

Then for really cold weather there’s the Driven Hunt GTX, with some serious insulation inside. “This is intended for driven boar shooting in the snow, but if you’re shooting in Scotland in winter it could be just the job,” says Simon.

Finally there’s the Reidmar GTX. “This one’s a bit different. It has this clever Uturn lacing system, where you just turn the dial to do it up, and turn the other way to open it. It’s an extremely lightweight boot, with Gore-Tex lining and a Vibram sole.”

He continues “It’s not a high mountain boot, but for everything else it’s just brilliant. I wear mine twice a day every day for walking the dog and they are so comfortable.”

Prices are £269.99 for the Pro Hunter Ledge GTX, £299.99 for the Pro Hunter Ridge GTX, £299.99 for the Driven Hunt GTX, and £279.99 for the Reidmar GTX.
