Shooting tax to hit Scottish landowners

The Scottish Government has tried all sorts of cunning plans to kill off recreational hunting and shooting of game. This time there are real fears they might have cracked it with the removal, without consultation, of Small Business Bonus Scheme relief for sporting rates. This means if you run a commercial shoot – grouse, pheasant, whatever, or take clients out deerstalking on your ground – in Scotland, it’s going to cost the estate a lot more. Perhaps too much.
