A cheap Webley – for all your English gun needs

Our auctions expert Diggory Hadoke of VintageGuns.co.uk selects a 1975 16-bore model 701 boxlock ejector by Webley to solve your steel cartridge problems. He admits that there are no mass-market steel cartridges for 16-bores but he says they are on their way.

This on is for sale at Holt’s Auctioneers in its 20-21 September 2021 sale. Serial no 144306, it has 28in nitro barrels, 2¾in chambers, bored approximately ¼ choke in both, sculpted toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid ‘SAFE’ detail, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish. The 15¼in figured stock includes a 7/8in rubber recoil pad. It has a bolstered fore-end, weighs 6lb 3oz, and comes in a lightweight leather case with accessories. Estimate is £1,400-£1,600.
