Fieldsports Britain – Schools Challenge and Andy ‘Crowman’ Crow shoots pigeons

This week we’ve got pigeon shooting with the ‘crow man’ Andy Crow, deerstalking with Sporting Shooter editor Dominic Holtam, the Schools Challenge competition for the best young shooters in Britain, and our own super competition for one lucky viewer to win a TransK9 dog box for your car worth £450. Out with Andy in Kent, the conditions are against him — it’s light, bright and the sun is low – but still he’s there, defending his farm with a team of other pigeon shooters and they manage a 150-bird day. What a spring it’s been so far for pigeon shooters, with the sheer numbers of birds taking the farmers by surprise. Also surprising is the number of entries to this year’s Schools Challenge. Organised by the Oxford Gun Company, the latest in a year of clay competitions and gameshooting days for schools and schoolchildren has introduced thousands of young people to the sport of shooting. Contenders for the title include Kineton High School, Bredon, Bradfield and Millfield. Who is going to win this year? Find out here…
