Raven cull underway in Scotland

Scottish Natural Heritage is at last to sanction a raven cull. Raven numbers have exploded in recent years and they are damaging populations of waders, grouse and starving ravens are attacking sheep (as above).

SNH is allowing a cull of just 60 ravens (pictured) in Perthshire.

The RSPB attacks SNH for the move. It admits it shoots foxes to help waders, and it admits that the raven cull will also help waders, but it is furious that the cull will help grouse populations on shooting estates.
