Poachers shoot exotics in Dodge City

Bowhunting poachers broke into an exotic animals ranch in Kansas and shot several animals, including some kept as pets.

The owner of of Dodge City Exotic Hunt and Safari near Dodge City, Ryan Engelking, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the poachers.

He estimates the killings will cost him about US$25,000. He says many of the animals killed were rams. The poachers left the carcases. The ranch has auctioned off the heads they found, including the ram pictured, for taxidermy.

The owner believes at least two people committed the crime.
