Fieldsports Britain – Deer Pioneer

What was the UK like when we hardly had any deer? How did modern deerstalking start? How did New Zealand gets its deer? We answer these questions and more in the latest in our series A Year in the Life of Fallow Deer. We follow stalker Phiz Phizacklea during the fallow rut and we talk to deerstalking pioneer Fred Marshall.
That’s not all. It’s the end of the game shooting season and, for many shoots, that means the much-cherished beaters’ day. We end our series The Beating Line with our fearless three generations of beaters – Jack, Richard and Peter – out with guns to bring the season to a close. With News, Hunting YouTube and the results of our Härkila rucksack competition, it’s all in this week’s #FieldsportsBritain
