Old duckhunting trick makes firefighters national heroes

Two firefighters who used an old duckhunting trick to put out a fire caused by Hurricane Harvey are now national heroes.

Jason Hunt and Beau Bishop

Jason Hunt and Beau Bishop had been seconded from Arkansas to help fight fires in Houston. They attempted to attach a hose to a fire hydrant, only to discover there wasn’t enough pressure for it to work.

In Arkansas, when they want to clear a path through the ice, they tie they boats to a tree and blow the ice away using their motors, they tried the same technique here and it worked to great effect.

Hunt, said: “It’s just an old duck hunter trick. We’ll pin our boats to a tree in the woods, and we’ll blow the ice out using out boat motors, so I thought it would be worth a try.”
