Just as the ibex season is about to close, Paul Childerley heads to southern Spain to hunt the smallest of the Spanish ibex subspecies, the Ronda ibex. Mountain hunting requires skill, fitness and great kit. Paul’s done his homework. He’s prepared for long range shooting  across this impressive landscape out to 500 metres, using his Sako S20 in 6.5 Creedmoor. To add to the tricky conditions and – despite it being late April 2023 – the trip coincides with a heatwave sending the wildlife and our hunting guides into a tail spin. Instead of 14 degrees we are dealing with 31°C.
