Buzzard attack leaves runner with head injuries

A jogger has been left with a painful wound on his head after being attacked by a buzzard while out running.

Andy Llewellyn was jogging in Chellaston, Derby, when he was set upon by the bird of prey.

Mr Llewellyn, said: “I was just jogging along and without any warning I got an almighty smack on the head.

“I had no idea what it was at the time. But I heard the flapping of the bird’s wings and I later realised what had happened.”

The pain from the injuries Mr Llewellyn received has passed, but he said he was “dazed and confused” after the attack.

Originally the attack was blamed on a harris hawk in the area but wildlife officials believe it to be the work of a “super aggressive” wild buzzard.
